Wandisile Simelane and Willem Alberts have both been named in the Lions’ 26-man squad for their four-match tour to Australasia next week.
The duo both came off the bench in the second half of the Lions’ narrow loss to the Stormers at Ellis Park last weekend and have done enough to prove their fitness and be included in the squad.
Simelane missed the Lions’ opening two fixtures due to reported concerns over his match-fitness, while Alberts recently re-joined the side after recovering from a bicep injury.
Also included is wing Jamba Ulengo, who came through unscathed in a friendly against the Vodacom Blue Bulls last Saturday, as well as No 8 Hacjivah Dayimani, who was a substitute against the Stormers.
The squad will depart for Australia on Saturday, as they enjoy a bye this weekend. They begin their tour against the Waratahs before facing the Rebels, Blues and Highlanders.
