Leopards hammer Bulldogs

The Leopards celebrate their win against Border Leopards hammer Bulldogs

The Leopards beat the Border Bulldogs 47-22, while there were also Currie Cup First Division wins for the Boland Cavaliers and Griffons.

In Potchefstroom on Friday, the Leopards maintained their unbeaten run and climbed back to the top of the table by outscoring the Bulldogs seven tries to two. Leopards fullback Gerhard Nortier scored a brace of tries, while flyhalf Schalk Hugo kicked six conversions for a 12-point haul.

At the opposite end of the table, the Griffons won their basement battle by beating the EP Elephants 35-22 in Despatch. The hosts led 19-14 at the break but Griffons wing Rodney Damons completed his hat-trick in the second half to give his side a vital win.

Meanwhile, the Boland Cavaliers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 20-7 win against the Valke in Lamberts Bay. The home side move into third place with a game in hand over the Valke, who sit in fourth position.

Leopards (47) – Tries: Louis van der Westhuizen, Muziwandile Mazibuko, Dean Stokes, Evardi Boshoff, Gerhard Nortier (2), Marius Stander. Conversions: Schalk Hugo (6).
Border Bulldogs (22) – Tries: Billy Dutton, Lonwabo Ntleki, Nkosi Nofuma. Conversions: Dilolo Mapuko (2). Penalty: Mapuko.

EP Elephants (22) – Tries: Xandre Vos, Zingisa April, Tristan Blewett. Conversions: Henrique Olivier (2). Penalty: April.
Griffons (35) – Tries: Rodney Damons (3), Shaun Mcdonald, Arthur-William Williams. Conversions: Duan Pretorius (5).

Boland Cavaliers (20) – Tries: Marlyn Williams, Valentino Wellman. Conversions: Jacquin Jansen (2). Penalties: Ralton October (2).
Valke (7) – Try: Coert Cronje. Conversion: Anrich Richter.
