Juan Manuel Leguizamon will play in his fourth World Cup after being named in Argentina’s final 31-man squad for the tournament in Japan.

Leguizamon will join coach and former hooker Mario Ledesma as well as Felipe Contepomi and Agustín Picho in playing in four World Cups, while he could become Argentina’s most-capped player.

There were a few surprises in Ledesma’s squad as neither wing Santiago Cordero nor loose forward Facundo Isa, who were both called up from their European clubs to play in the Rugby Championship, have been included.

France-based flyhalves Nicolas Sanchez and Benjamin Urdapilleta and Saracens prop Juan Figallo have been included.

Matías Alemanno, Bautista Delguy and Joaquín Tuculet, who have struggled with injury and been playing for the Jaguares XV in the Currie Cup First Division, have made the cut.

There are also call-ups for Santiago Carreras, who made his Test debut against the Springboks in Pretoria last weekend, as well as fellow youngsters  Lucas Mensa and Rafael Mayco Vivas.
