Springbok fullback Willie le Roux will not be joining the Vodacom Bulls from Wasps.
Le Roux missed a good portion of the English Premiership season while on Springbok duty this year. Wasps take a part of his salary every time he plays a Test, which has led to tension between the two parties.
The Bulls had hoped to bring the 29-year-old to Loftus for the 2019 Vodacom Super Rugby season, but high-performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg told Rapport newspaper that ‘Wasps will not release Willie from his contract’.
Meanwhile, the Bulls’ plans to sign Toulouse prop Maks van Dyk were scuppered when he opted to extend his contract with the French club for another year.
