Samoa Sevens player Gordon Langkilde has denied assaulting three members of the Wales team at the Sevens World Cup in San Francisco.
Langkilde was arrested and charged after allegedly attacking three Welsh players in the tunnel after Samoa’s 24-19 Challenge quarter-final loss.
Having appeared at the San Francisco Hall of Justice on Monday, Langkilde pleaded not guilty to charges of battery and assault after the alleged altercation.
The assault, described by Welsh players as unprovoked, left Tom Williams with tournament-ending injuries and resulted in Langkilde being thrown out of the tournament by World Rugby.
He will now have to remain in the USA until his trial on 15 August.
