Jaco Kriel has not signed for English club Gloucester and remains committed to the Lions for Super Rugby.
Kriel’s sports management agency, In Touch Sports, refuted reports that the flanker has signed for Gloucester, a team coached by former Lions coach Johan Ackermann.
Kriel has only played 11 Tests for the Boks, and therefore would not meet the 30-cap eligibility ruling should he become an overseas-based player.
On their Twitter account, In Touch Sports stated that Kriel would only ‘make a decision on his future in March after consulting with [the] Lions’.
Simply media speculation @jacok6 has not signed for @gloucesterrugby He is signed & committed to @LionsRugbyCo… https://t.co/OCl9J2b4BE
