Jaco Kriel returns at blindside flank with Cyle Brink shifting to the bench.
Prop Pieter Scholtz has been called up from the Golden Lions XV squad to start at tighthead in place of the injured Ruan Dreyer, while Dylan Smith will replace Corné Fourie at loosehead, with Fourie dropping to the bench.
Hooker Akker van der Merwe retains his place in the starting XV after Malcolm Marx failed a late fitness test.
