Schalk Brits will lead a new-look Springbok side that includes Siya Kolisi in the starting lineup for their World Cup warm-up against Argentina in Pretoria on Saturday.
Kolisi has been named in the starting XV as he continues his carefully managed rehabilitation from a knee injury, following his comeback for Western Province last weekend.
Meanwhile, Brits will become the second oldest Springbok captain at 38 years and three months, and makes his first start in the green and gold since 2008.
The backline that helped overwhelm the Wallabies at Ellis Park a month ago has been reunited with the exception of scrumhalf, where Cobus Reinach gets an opportunity to start in place of Herschel Jantjies, who started against Australia but has been left out of the matchday 23.
Marcell Coetzee will make his first Bok start since 2015 at No 8, while Rynhardt Elstadt shifts to his more comfortable blindside role after starting at openside against Australia.
Bulls duo Lood de Jager and RG Snyman will form the second row pairing, while Brits is joined in the front row by Vincent Koch and Thomas du Toit.
Rassie Erasmus has opted for a 6-2 split on the bench as Faf de Klerk and Frans Steyn are the only two backline replacements. There is a potential debut for Stormers hooker Scarra Ntubeni.
