During a fascinating conversation with Pietersen, Kolisi touched on his experiences at the World Cup, leading the Springboks, the work his foundation is doing and also engaged in some good-natured banter.
While much of the chat was light-hearted, Pietersen didn’t shy away from some serious questions, and asked Kolisi whether he’d ever consider playing overseas.
‘No, no, not right now,’ Kolisi responded emphatically. ‘For me, everything I have is here. My family and with my foundation now, and all the things I want to do in my community are here.
‘If I had to go somewhere else, then I would be also sacrificing family time and all the work I want do in my community. I don’t know what would make me go, but for now I’m still signed to next year as well, and so hopefully I can stay in good shape and keep playing for the national side, so I’ll be staying for a bit longer.’
