Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has hinted that Cheslin Kolbe could get an opportunity to play at fullback.
Kolbe, who has been in terrific form for French club Toulouse, was nevertheless a surprise inclusion in the Bok squad for the Australasian tour.
Erasmus said that while Kolbe will have to settle into the squad, he may have an opportunity to play in the last four matches of the Championship against the Wallabies and All Blacks.
‘The good thing is that he is in the group of 30,’ Erasmus said. ‘There are still four games left. So we have four games to look at players and many are going to play.
‘But it is nice to know there is a specialist 15 in the squad other than Willie [le Roux]. We still need to give Damian [Willemse] a fair chance at fullback.
‘If there is a chance for him [Kolbe] to get game time, then he will.’
The 24-year-old joined Toulouse last year after spending his entire career with Western Province, making his Super Rugby debut for the Stormers in 2013.
