Saracens tighthead prop Vincent Koch says rumours of his premature return to South Africa are unfounded.
Koch is believed to be earmarked by Rassie Erasmus as a key player for the Springboks leading up to, and during, the 2019 World Cup.
However, the 27-year-old confirmed to Netwerk24 that rumours of him signing a long-term contract with the Bulls or Western Province are untrue.
‘In all honesty, it is not true. I haven’t talked to anyone. The only offer on the table is one from Saracens, the club I’m already contracted to until 2019,’ said Koch.
However, he added that he indicated to Erasmus that he still has the ambition to represent the Springboks.
‘If Rassie wants me back, I’ll consider returning to South Africa but definitely not before 2019.
‘I feel I’ve not nearly played enough for the Boks. I want to wear the jersey and make my country proud.’
