The EP Kings are chasing the signature of Springbok prop Brian Mujati ahead of the start of the Currie Cup.
The Port Elizabeth-based side has been recruiting players and coaches in the build-up to their Currie Cup Premier Division campaign this August. Centre Tim Whitehead (Sharks), hooker Michael van Vuuren (Stade Français), and lock Izak van der Westhuizen (Edinburgh) have already signed with the Kings, while Shaun Sowerby (forwards) and Michael Horak (defence) will be part of head coach Carlos Spencer's management team.
Now Mujati is being touted as the next big signing. Mujati played 12 Tests for the Boks before taking up a contract with Northampton Saints in 2009. He currently plays for French club Racing Métro.
Eastern Province president Cheeky Watson has confirmed that the Kings first wanted to bring Mujati to Port Elizabeth in 2012, and that they are intent on signing him in 2014.
The Kings are reportedly also after Elton Jantjies's signature. The Bok flyhalf hasn't featured much for the Lions in 2014, and is said to be keen on renewing his relationship with Spencer at the Kings. Jantjies and Spencer first worked together at the Lions.
