Kings sweat over captain

Kings captain Schalk Ferreira suffered a bicep injury in his side's 19-17 defeat against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday.

Ferreira is the only new casualty to the Kings' injury list, with team doctor Konrad von Hagen confirming the 33-year-old will undergo scans late on Monday to assess the full extent of his injury.

According to Von Hagen, the team's other players who have long-term injuries are making good progress.

Centre Vulindlu is undergoing the return-to-play protocol after sustaining a concussion against the Stormers, and flank CJ Velleman (knee) is on track for a return to action in April.

Lock Cameron Lindsay and scrumhalf Rudi van Rooyen's recovery from their respective injuries are on schedule, although it remains unclear when they will be available for selection again.

The Kings will host the Lions at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
