EP Kings players have received overdue payments of their August salaries, reports CRAIG LEWIS.

Saturday's Currie Cup clash against the Golden Lions will therefore go ahead as planned.

South African Rugby Players' Association CEO Piet Heymans was set to meet with EP Kings players to discuss the matter, but a Sarpa spokesperson confirmed on Thursday that payments were received just as he arrived in Port Elizabeth.

The Kings did not train on Tuesday, while Wednesday is their usual day off, with the players taking a stand after there were once again delays with their salary payments. However, they were said to have resumed training after the payments were made.

Kings chief executive Charl Crouse and president Cheeky Watson had been locked in discussions to resolve the matter for the last couple of days, with Watson having given assurances that the salaries would be paid out.

Although there was some speculation that Saturday’s match against the Lions could be in jeopardy, the Kings will take to the field as they go in search of their first win of the Currie Cup season.
