KES, Rondebosch share spoils

Published on April 4, 2015 | Leave a response

KES and Rondebosch Boys' drew 10-10 on the second day of the KES Easter Festival.

It was a tight clash played in wet conditions, which did not dampen the occasion too much as there were huge hits and a dominant scrum performance from Rondebosch.

KES centre Ryan Theron's missed penalty and an attack from the hosts that almost resulted in a try were the only point-scoring opportunities in the first half as the teams went into the break locked at 0-0.

Theron finally opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half with a penalty goal.

Bosch responded a few minutes later with a converted try by right wing Amani Minani and a penalty by Nicholas Potgieter to lead 10-3, but with three minutes remaining, Rondebosch wing Ryan Klein was yellow-carded and KES eighthman Lwazi Monakali scored a converted try to level the scores.

In other matches, Eldoraigne edged Ben Vorster 10-7, Kingswood College pipped Hentie Cilliers 28-26, Northwood Boys' beat Daniel Pienaar 12-7, Queen's College eased past Parktown Boys 26-15, Graeme College saw off Hudson Park 15-10 and DHS claimed a 33-10 victory against St David's Marist.
