Janse van Rensburg starred for Lions

Rohan Janse van Rensburg produced an outstanding individual performance as the Lions came away with a desired bonus-point win over the Kings, according to SARugbymag.co.za’s Opta-powered stats.

Although the final 57-21 scoreline certainly flatters the Lions, it should not take away from the fact that it required a late surge for them to ultimately power their way to a comfortable victory.

A number of Lions stars were far from their best, but Janse van Rensburg stood head and shoulders above the rest. Not only did he score two tries, but he made 104m, beat five defenders and completed three clean breaks.

Ultimately, the Lions were just far too good for the Kings, making 860m to 177, 134 carries to 79, beating 40 defenders to 11 and completing 19 breaks to two. Again, the Kings will also look to their porous defence as a real area of concern, with 40 missed tackles costing the Port Elizabeth-based side dearly.
