The Jaguares XV powered to a 27-13 win over the Griffons in the final of the Currie Cup First Division in Potchefstroom to claim the title in their inaugural season.
The South Americans were playing in the First Division for the first time and progressed through to the final unbeaten, winning all seven of their round robin games before beating the Valke in the semi-finals.
Tries from wing Thomas Cubellia and fullback Facundo Cordero to go with a penalty from flyhalf Domingo Miotti gave the home side a 17-6 lead at the break, with flyhalf Robbie Petzer kicking two penalties to keep the Griffons in the contest.
An evenly contested second half saw the Jaguares XV extend their lead on the hour mark thanks to a penalty try from a powerful scrum, putting them 24-6 up with just 20 minutes to go.
The Griffons tried to claw their way back and narrowed the deficit when No 8 Cody Basson scored. However, another penalty from Miotti ensured the Jaguares of victory.
