Jaguares hooker Santiago Socino has been cited for his stamp on Craig Burden during their loss to the Sharks in Durban on Saturday.
The incident took place in the 80th minute of the match after a Jaguares maul when Socino trod on Burden’s head.
Socino is alleged to have contravened Law 9.12 which states that a player must now physically or verbally abuse anyone. In this case, physical abuse includes stamping or trampling on an opposition player.
While Socino was not punished during the game, upon further review the Citing Commissioner deemed the incident to be severe enough to meet the red card threshold.
A Sanzaar Foul Play Review committee will consider the case on Monday at 12pm (SA time) via video conference.
