Flanker Jake Polledri will start in one of five changes to the Italy lineup that will face France in Rome on Saturday.
The 23-year-old, who plays for Gloucester in the Premiership, comes into the loose trio for Sebastian Negri, who drops to the bench.
An injury to New Zealand-born lock Dean Budd means that David Sisi returns to the second row, while tighthead prop Tiziano Pasquali and hooker Leonardo Ghiraldini also return to the starting lineup.
Meanwhile, there is a debut for Marco Zanon as the 21-year-old Treviso centre comes into the midfield for Michele Campagnaro.
