Beleaguered former Wallabies fullback Israel Folau will reportedly instigate legal action against Rugby Australia within the next two days.
Folau opted not to appeal against the tribunal ruling which effectively ended his international career, voicing a lack of confidence in the process.
But, according to a report in the Australian Financial Review on Wednesday, the 30-year-old has hired a new legal team to challenge his sacking in a court of law.
George Haros, head of employment at Folau’s new law firm – Macpherson Kelley – said they believe Rugby Australia acted ‘unlawfully’.
‘Israel has several options available to him at this point, and we are considering his next steps. But we do believe Rugby Australia and the Waratahs have acted unfairly and unlawfully in their treatment of Israel,’ Haros said.
