There is still no clarity over the availability of Lions and Springbok wing Aphiwe Dyantyi.
Dyantyi picked up a hamstring strain during a Bok training session on 12 July and subsequently missed South Africa’s title-winning Rugby Championship campaign.
He returned to the Lions in Johannesburg to complete his rehabilitation, but no further update has been given on his progress.
The Lions have declined to comment when asked to give an indication when Dyantyi will return to action or training.
Meanwhile, the Lions are sweating over the availability of at least seven other players ahead of their crunch match against the Sharks on Friday.
Centres Jan-Louis la Grange and Manni Rass sustained head knocks and are both following the return-to-play protocol for concussion programme.
Meanwhile, loose forward Vincent Tshituka and wing Stean Pienaar (both low-grade ACL injuries), props Johannes Jonker and Jacobie Adriaanse (both calf strains) as well as Cyle Brink (knee) are all crocked and will be undergo fitness tests later in the week to determine their availability for selection.
Dylan Smith, Wayne van der Bank and Courtnall Skosan are expected to be available in the next two to three weeks.
