Golden Lions centre Harold Vorster has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury against the Pumas last weekend.
Vorster tore the anterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee, and will be sidelined for the next six months.
Coach Johan Ackermann acknowledged the injury was a big blow to the Lions’ Currie Cup campaign.
‘Harold will be a big loss for us and the injury is rather unfortunate as he has had a great season and did well at both 12 and 13. I also believe he made huge strides this year and was in good form throughout, so we are disappointed by this loss.’
Vorster will undergo surgery this week, while in other injury news, Andries Coetzee is progressing well after sustaining a toe injury in the build-up to the Currie Cup, and he is expected be back around mid-September.
