Grey College kicked off their 2015 season with a 50-27 win against Hoërskool Menlopark in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Grey coach Wessel du Plessis told SARugbymag.co.za that it wasn't an easy match despite the final scoreline.
'In the first half, Menlopark were strong and physical and they made life difficult for us. But in the second, we found our rhythm by spreading the ball across the park. It was a real team effort by the guys, but there's lots of hard work ahead.'
Meanwhile in the Tuks Series, Monument beat EG Jansen 18-8 in Group A. Garsfontein suffered a surprise 30-27 loss to Kempton Park in Group B and Affies cantered to a 17-0 victory over Helpmekaar.
In KwaZulu-Natal, Glenwood went down 18-13 to Michaelhouse while Kearsney beat Hilton 34-22. In Kimberley, Noord-Kaap beat Jacobsdal 19-7.
Selborne and Dale won their matches at the Border Rugby Day beating Hudson 43-22 and Port Rex 41-0 respectively.
