Former Lions lock Andries Ferreira has been released by the Hurricanes without playing a match for the franchise.
The 28-year-old replaced injured Canes lock Sam Lousi earlier this month. However, a recurrence of a knee injury, which he had last year, will sideline Ferreira for up to three weeks.
‘We thought he was all good, but he’s come out here and tweaked it again at training,’ said Hurricanes coach John Plumtree.
‘It’s disappointing for us as Andries is an excellent player who had the potential to play an important part in our campaign. But it’s not worth the effort of doing that [rehab], we’ll just run with what we’ve got.’
A fresh start and a beautiful new beginning! Excited to join this amazing team for @SuperRugby 2019. ??#newmonth #newblessings #newbeggining #newstart #newmindset #newfocus #newresults pic.twitter.com/Xj8Igan0rE
