For the first time, the school tournament will be held during the Varsity Sevens, giving youngsters a greater level of exposure.

Human, who played Varsity Cup and sevens for Tuks in 2015, spoke to SARugbymag.co.za about his experiences in the tournament.
‘In 2015, we went through to the sevens final against Shimlas and a couple of minutes into the final, I broke my leg. I was out for about five or six months. We lost the game but it was still great to be a part of everything.
‘It is a good tournament for young guys to express themselves. For me, to play in that tournament in front of coach Marius [Schoeman] was a big boost. It was tough because I got my invite to the Blitzboks camp after that but couldn’t go because of my injury.
‘After that, I managed to come back really well and I am really enjoying my time here.’
Human said the school’s tournament is something that should be backed as it will allow more youngsters to show what they can do on a bigger stage.
‘It is a great thing to compare yourself with other guys and play against big teams with big names. I think it is going to be great for them to go and express themselves.
‘For them to know the Blitzbok coaches are there watching them is a big honour. My message to them is to go out and enjoy themselves and show what they can do. They must go out and play the best they can for their team.’
