Hendricks signs for Toulon

Springbok wing Cornal Hendricks has signed a short-term deal with French club Toulon.

Three-time European champions Toulon announced the signing of Hendricks on Thursday, on a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2016/17 season.

The 28-year-old, who has won 12 Test caps for the Springboks, had to stop playing earlier in this year because of a serious heart condition.

But it appears he’s now able to make a return to rugby and the French giants moved quickly to services as a replacement for wing Drew Mitchell, who suffered an injury against Bordeaux last Sunday.

Hendricks will join fellow Boks, Bryan Habana, Duane Vermeulen, Juan Smith, Juandré Kruger and Marcel van der Merwe as well as Lions lock Andries Ferreira on Toulon's payroll.
