Dane Haylett-Petty featured prominently in the Wallabies’ 33-21 win over Los Pumas at Twickenham, according to SARugbymag.co.za’s Opta-powered stats.

While most plaudits will go to blockbusting centre Samu Kerevi for his brace of tries, 104 running metres and five clean breaks, Haylett-Petty should be credited for his contribution.

The winger copped a lot of criticism during Australia’s slump earlier this season, but starred in their first return to Twickenham since the 2015 World Cup final.

Argentina started well, but it was Haylett-Petty who sparked the Wallabies with a scintillating run down the right-hand touchline for the first try of the match. He ran 73m, made two clean breaks, beat two defenders and completed three offloads. His aerial play was also very good, and he made his required tackles.

What will concern Michael Cheika is that Argentina enjoyed 66% of possession to Australia’s 34%. Los Pumas also made 520m to the Wallabies’ 428, beat 26 defenders to 16, executed 21 offloads to 7 and carried the ball 135 times to Australia’s 59.

Australia take on New Zealand in the third Bledisloe Cup Test next weekend and will need a far better performance to stand a chance of upsetting the world champions.
