Halfpenny boosts Wales

Fullback Leigh Halfpenny will start for Wales in the Test against the Wallabies at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday.

Halfpenny will make his first Test appearance since the 2015 World Cup, where he sustained an injury which ruled him out of the Six Nations and Wales tour of New Zealand in June.

Apart from Halfpenny, wing Alex Cuthbert and flank Dan Lydiate also slot straight back into the starting lineup after missing the mid-year Tests against the All Blacks due to injury, while winger George North and prop Gethin Jenkins return to the team following injuries in New Zealand.

With regular captain Sam Warburton released to the Cardiff Blues for this week, Jenkins will take over the captaincy.

While Wales' run-on XV share 802 caps between them, there are two uncapped players – flyhalf Sam Davies and lock Cory Hill – on the bench.

Wales – 15 Leigh Halfpenny, 14 Alex Cuthbert, 13 Jonathan Davies, 12 Jamie Roberts, 11 George North, 10 Dan Biggar, 9 Rhys Webb, 8 Ross Moriarty, 7 Justin Tipuric, 6 Dan Lydiate, 5 Luke Charteris, 4 Bradley Davies, 3 Samson Le, 2 Ken Owens, 1 Gethin Jenkins (c).
Subs: 16 Scott Baldwin, 17 Nicky Smith, 18 Tomas Francis, 19 Cory Hill, 20 James King, 21 Gareth Davies, 22 Sam Davies, 23 Hallam Amos.
