Legendary Springbok wing Bryan Habana on Thursday donated R40 000 to South Africa’s largest food redistribution charity to help with relief efforts in the fight against Covid-19.
Habana, through his foundation and in partnership with Ozow, donated the money to FoodForward SA to assist its mission to distribute food and raise awareness of the massive food insecurity crisis that is affecting millions of South Africans due to and during the coronavirus pandemic.
The donation was served to commemorate World Hunger Day.
Habana, who is also a brand ambassador of FoodForward SA, handed a cheque to the organisation’s managing director, Andy du Plessis in Cape Town, where he and the Ozow team sponsored and made up 200 food parcels, valued at R80 000, which will be distributed by The Bryan Habana Foundation to charities of their choice.
‘The Bryan Habana Foundation, together with its partner, Ozow, is committed to supporting registered charities that deliver direct food support assistance to food insecure communities across South Africa,’ Habana said.
‘We respect and value the crucial work that FoodForward SA is during the Covid-19 lockdown, and for the past 11 years.’
