Former Griquas and Pumas prop Khwezi Mona has officially joined the Sharks on a two-year deal.
The loosehead prop has returned to Durban to provide further depth to the Sharks’ front-row stocks, after they let Khutha Mchunu join the Cheetahs.

Mona started his career with the Sharks Academy and made four senior appearances between 2012 and 2014.
He then joined the Pumas in 2015, winning the Vodacom Cup in his first season in Mpumalanga and would go on to make over 50 appearances for the team.
After a short stint with the Kings in 2018, Mona joined Griquas in 2019 and played a major role in helping them claim the Provincial Rugby Challenge last year.
A mobile player who started out as a loose forward while he was at Selborne College in the Eastern Cape, Mona is a strong ball-carrier and will provide some competition for Ox Nche, who has started both of the Sharks’ opening Super Rugby Unlocked games.
