Griquas dethroned the Pumas as Rugby Challenge title holders with a 28-13 victory in the final in Saldanha Bay on Sunday.
In a repeat of last year’s final, when the Pumas won via an 83rd-minute drop-goal, this time it was Griquas’ turn to celebrate as they outscored the defending champions three tries to two to secure their first title.
It is also Brent Janse van Rensburg’s second Rugby Challenge title, after he coached the Pumas before vacating the position shortly after the return of Jimmy Stonehouse from Japan.
