Grey College beat Paarl Boys’ High 15-10 in their Mutual & Federal Premier Interschools clash in Paarl.
The visitors dominated the opening stages, but it was still 0-0 after 25 minutes. Grey finally broke the deadlock when fullback Lourens Steenkamp beat three defenders before releasing wing Glen Erickson.
Boishaai then strung together a few phases and minutes later wing Tristan Solomons scored his side’s only try. Flyhalf Ryan Lombaard converted, giving them a 7-5 lead at the break.
Flank Henry Slabbert’s converted score put Grey back in the ascendency early in the second half, before Lombaard's penalty goal narrowed the deficit to 12-10. But Grey’s five-point lead was restored when a Steenkamp penalty sealed the result.
Meanwhile, Paul Roos continued their dominance over Cape sides with a 31-21 win against Rondebosch (they’ve beaten Paarl Gym, Wynberg and Tygerberg recently).
