After the Vodacom Bulls have undergone a considerable rebuilding phase under new coach Jake White, we take a look at the player options available in a new-look squad.

Over the last several weeks, there have been an exciting number of acquisitions as the Bulls reshape their structures under a new coaching group.

Duane Vermeulen and Arno Botha will both be moving back to Pretoria, and are joined by Nizaam Carr in boosting the team’s loose-forward stocks.

Other high-profile signings include Springbok tighthead Marcel van der Merwe, wing Travis Ismaiel, fullback Gio Aplon and Cheetahs second-row pair Walt Steenkamp and Sintu Manjezi.

There have also been a number of departures, with Burger Odendaal leaving for local rivals the Lions. Divan Rossouw, Jaco Visagie and Wiehahn Herbst have also headed across the Jukskei, while Josh Strauss, Jeandre Rudolph, Manie Libbok, Johnny Kotze, Rosko Specman and Warrick Gelant have left Loftus too.

With all this in mind, we’ve taken a closer look at two hypothetical teams the Bulls could field when a revised Currie Cup is able to take place.

In the first squad, it’s clear to see the options that the Bulls will boast up front with the likes of Springboks Libo Gqoboka, Trevor Nyakane, Vermeulen and Botha to call on.

Although the Bulls may look to boost their backline stocks in weeks to come, they do have newcomers such as Aplon, Clinton Swart and Ismaiel.
