Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe displayed his full range of skills in a gutsy performance at flyhalf for French club Toulouse this past weekend.
Last year, Kolbe unequivocally established himself as one of the most dynamic wings in the game, starring for the Springboks throughout their victorious Rugby Championship and World Cup campaigns.
The diminutive but lion-hearted speedster has also shown a capability to fill in at scrumhalf, while in a surprise move this past weekend, he acquitted himself capably in the No 10 jersey.
Beyond providing a try assist and beating three defenders, Kolbe proved he is a more than capable goal-kicker, slotting two penalties and a couple of conversions for a 10-point points haul.
Kolbe’s composed performance, coupled with his consistently impressive displays in his preferred position on the wing, have understandably led to the suggestion that he could currently be considered the best back in world rugby.
As it is, respected French publication Midi Olympique included Kolbe in their selection of the Top14 Team of the Week, which interestingly also featured former Bok Johan Goosen at fullback.
