The Vodacom Bulls have swooped to secure the services of Kings prop Lizo Gqoboka.

With the cash-strapped Kings battling to make player payments, Gqoboka was one of the players to confirm he'd be leaving the union after the latest wage debacle.

Bulls high performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg confirmed to SuperSport.com that Gqoboka had signed with the Bulls, while it was also reported that they were also after the signatures of three other Kings’ players: Tim Agaba, Thembelani Bholi and Luther Obi.

Although the Kings stated on Thursday that Gqoboka and Tim Whitehead were the only two players who had confirmed they'd be leaving, it remains to be seen how many others might follow suit.

Meanwhile, New Zealand rugby boss Steve Tew has admitted that there are concerns about the Kings' readiness to re-enter Super Rugby next year.

'We are concerned about any expansion when you bring new teams into a competition and it takes a bit of time for it to bed down,' he told the NZ Herald. 'We are nervous about the strength the Kings will bring to that competition too.'
