EP Kings prop Lizo Gqoboka has been invited to the Springboks training camp in Stellenbosch.
He will be joined by the Free State Cheetahs trio of Trevor Nyakane, Lood de Jager and Teboho 'Oupa' Mohoje, all of whom have been released by their unions following their elimination from the Currie Cup.
Gqoboka was recently a part of the Springbok camp ahead of the match against Australia along with Western Province's Seabelo Senatla and Nizaam Carr, but was unable to train as he was suffering with injury.
'Trevor, Lood and ‘Oupa’ formed part of the Springbok squad for the Rugby Championship and it would be good to have them involved in our camp,' said coach Heyneke Meyer.
'Lizo has shown a lot of promise this year and although he spent a day with us in camp in Cape Town last month, he was injured and couldn’t train, so we’d like to get another opportunity to work with him.
'We’d like to thank the provinces for their willingness to release these players. We will re-assess the situation after the Currie Cup semi-finals before we decide to possibly invite more players to the camp after two more teams have been eliminated from the competition.'
The 20 nationally contracted Springboks, as well as any additional players who are invited after their teams had been eliminated from the Currie Cup, will get together for a week-long camp in Stellenbosch on Monday.
