Johan Goosen is set to join Montpellier after owner Mohed Altrad agreed to buy out his contract with Racing 92 for €1.4-million (R20-million).
The Springbok back controversially got out of his €500,000 per season contract with Racing, which was set to end in 2020, by ‘retiring’ from the game in December 2016 and accepting a job as a commercial director at a saddle-horse stud farm in Bloemfontein.

There was speculation that the 24-year-old could come out of retirement to play for the Cheetahs in last year’s Super Rugby before joining English club Gloucester, but that failed to materialise.
However, Altrad and Racing have now come to an agreement, with Goosen likely to become part of Montpellier’s squad from July.
