As we enter the final two-week lockdown period, we will seek to bring you daily snippets of good news, starting with SA Rugby Magazine’s record-setting growth.
Here at SARugbymag.co.za, we are delighted to announce some of the growth in key readership metrics we have seen over the past 12 to 18 months, including a strong start this calendar year despite the impact of Covid-19 on live rugby.
It is only appropriate that we take this opportunity thank you, our readers, for your support during this time as we look to continue bringing you fresh and innovative content about the sport we love.

During this time of lockdown, we’ve taken the time to reflect on a record-breaking 2019, which saw hugely encouraging growth from 2018.
In these key areas, this is the growth from 2018 that we are proud to have recorded last year:
- Users: 312%
- Sessions: 187%
- Unique users: 174%
- Page views: 159%

What has also been particularly encouraging is our readership return from the start of 2020, which has seen growth of 53% in page views compared to this same period at the beginning of 2019.
To have been able to record such figures despite a period of ‘lockdown’ for the game is a credit to our commitment to evolve our online content to provide a multi-media offering.
The increase in reach and engagement has been reflected by the continued growth of our other digital and social platforms, including our YouTube channel – which is approaching 10,000 subscribers – and our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram platforms.
