Johan Ackermann’s Gloucester have confirmed the signing of Munster lock Gerbrandt Grobler.
The former WP lock will link up with Gloucester ahead of the 2018-19 European club season. He becomes the latest South African to join Gloucester, who are coached by former Springbok Ackermann and have former Lions players such as Ruan Ackermann and Jaco Kriel on their books.
‘Gloucester are a club that are on the up, and I want to be part of something with the same ambitions and goals as me,’ Grobler said. ‘I want to be part of something that is building, and spend my future here.’
Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys welcomed the signing of the 2.01m, 119kg lock.
‘Over the past couple of seasons, Gerbrandt has developed into a top-quality second rower and made a big impression during his time at Racing and Munster Rugby,’ Humphreys said. ‘We are excited to add another young, dynamic forward to our squad, and he will add a lot of quality and options to our pack.’
