Green Machine crush College

Published on April 18, 2015 | Leave a response

Ilunga Mukendi scored a hat-trick as Glenwood thrashed Maritzburg College 57-12 in their Mutual & Federal Interschools clash at Kings Park on Saturday.

The Green Machine scored seven tries in total as they put their KZN rivals to the sword.

Glenwood flyhalf Jerome Bossor finished with a 26-point haul, via a try, six conversions and three penalties.

Bossor's boot gave his side an early 6-0 lead, before two tries from Mukendi, playing on the left wing, made it 18-0 after 25 minutes.

College hit back with a try from their left wing, Xolisa Guma, who latched on to a sublime offload. Fullback Ruben van Blerk kicked the conversion.

Just before half-time, Glenwood's powerful second shove at a scrum laid the platform for prop Khuthazani Mchunu's try, which Bossor converted to make it 25-7.

Guma scored his second try early in the second half, before Glenwood's try-fest continued with Mukendi completing his hat-trick, centre Donovan du Randt grabbing two quick tries and Bossor crossing the line just before full-time.

In other notable results this weekend, Paul Roos pummelled Grey High 34-3, Rondebosch Boys’ beat Wynberg Boys' 38-19, SACS edged Boland Landbou 26-24, Bishops beat Paarl Gym 35-32, and EG Jansen cruised past Eldoraigne 35-15 in the Tuks Series.
