England 2003 Rugby World Cup-winner Kyran Bracken is talking up current Chiefs coach Warren Gatland as the next England boss, with speculation surrounding Eddie Jones’ future.

Bracken has previously called for Jones to be sacked and has now tipped Gatland, the man who will lead the British & Irish Lions in South Africa next year, to take up the role.

Jones has steadied England’s Six Nations cause with wins over Scotland and Ireland, but the defeat by France in the opening round has created enough concerns with the Australian’s contract due to expire in August 2021.

‘I’d love Warren Gatland to come back and coach England,’ Bracken told the Rugby Paper.

‘That would be amazing. He may well want something to do after he finishes with the Lions in South Africa, so the timing would be perfect.

‘He’s been linked with the job before, so why not again?’

Gatland will take a Vodacom Super Rugby break in 2021 to focus on preparations for the Lions tour. He distanced himself from the England job in June 2019 before returning home to replace Colin Cooper as the Chiefs’ head coach.

Gatland was a serious contender for the top All Blacks job before missing out to Ian Foster.
