Montpellier have reportedly offered CJ Stander €840,000 (R12.6-million) a year in an attempt to lure him away from Munster.
Stander’s national contract with the IRFU comes to an end at the completion of the current European season. According to the Irish Examiner newspaper, Montpellier have launched an audacious bid to acquire the Irish international services should he become a free agent.
Though negotiations between the South African-born loose forward and the IRFU are said to be ongoing, it is believed the union’s initial offer of €400,000 per annum fell short of what Stander expected.
