Former All Blacks prop Ben Franks has announced his retirement from all rugby action at the end of the current European season.
The 36-year-old prop shared his news via social media by posting a pair of muddy boots hanging by their laces.
‘Just announcing I will be hanging up my playing boots at the end of the season,’ he wrote alongside the image.
‘I’m looking forward to some new challenges in different roles within rugby. But for now my focus is on finishing the season on a high with Northampton.’

Franks earned 47 Test caps for the All Blacks between 2008 and 2015, many of which he played alongside younger brother Owen.
During that time Franks also became a double World Cup winner as part of the 2011 and 2015 All Blacks squads that won back-to-back Webb Ellis titles.
Franks also have two Super Rugby winners’ medals with the Crusaders. He joined London Irish in 2015 before moving to another English club, the Northampton Saints in 2018.
