FFR president Bernard Laporte has included Warren Gatland and John Mitchell on the France coach shortlist.
Gatland and Mitchell are believed to be the strongest candidates to replace Eddie Jones as England head coach, but according to Midi Olympique, French Rugby Federation president Laporte has drawn up a four-man shortlist of people he wants to coach France after the World Cup.
Gatland’s 12-year tenure as Wales coach and Mitchell’s contract as England’s defence coach both come to an end after the World Cup in Japan finishes in November.
Along with the Kiwi duo, Sir Clive Woodward and Ronan O’Gara are the other potential candidates Laporte has in mind.
Should one of the four be appointed, it will be the first time in history that a foreign coach has taken charge of Les Bleus.
