The Six Nations clash between France and Scotland has been postponed after another positive Covid-19 test among the French squad.
The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon by the Six Nations Testing Oversight Group, who recommended the postponement of the game in Paris.
A Six Nations Rugby official statement read: ‘The Six Nations Testing Oversight Group (TOG) met today to review the situation in the French Camp.
‘They unanimously recommended the postponement of the France v Scotland match. This will be ratified later today by the Six Nations Council.
‘We will be working on the rescheduling of this fixture and will communicate the date in due course.’
France confirmed on Thursday morning that they had to suspend training and place their squad in isolation after the latest round of Covid-19 tests returned a positive case. The French camp have already had head coach Fabien Galthie, two of his assistants and 10 players tested positive for coronavirus.
The likes of captain Charles Ollivon and star scrumhalf Antoine Dupont are among the players to have tested positive and subsequently ruled out of this weekend’s Test.
This comes after France had returned no positive tests for two days this week and tournament organisers said on Wednesday that the match would go ahead as scheduled.
‘Following the RT-PCR tests carried out on Wednesday, February 24 and the appearance of a positive case within the squad of players, the FFR Medical Committee met this morning and decided to suspend training today,’ a statement read. ‘The entire group is in isolation in accordance with health protocols. The FFR is in close contact with the Six Nations Committee.’
