Aston Fortuin will miss the opening month of Super Rugby after injuring his shoulder during the Bulls’ pre-season loss to the Sharks in Polokwane.
Fortuin, who is highly rated by Bulls coach John Mitchell, will miss four to six weeks of action.
The Bulls, however, have depth at lock with Springbok Lood de Jager, RG Snyman, Jason Jenkins as well as SA U20 lock Ruben van Heerden in the squad.
The injury comes as a blow for Fortuin, who was looking to break through into the Super Rugby squad this year.
Winger Jamba Ulengo is also struggling with a chronic patella (knee) injury and has been referred to a surgeon for a second opinion.
