Clermont and ex-Springbok lock Flip van der Merwe will retire at the end of the current European season.
Van der Merwe earned 37 Test caps for the Springboks after making his debut against France in June 2010.
The 33-year-old represented the Cheetahs and Griffons, but played most of his rugby for the Bulls, where he made 75 Super Rugby and 37 Currie Cup appearances between 2009 and 2015. He moved to Clermont after the 2015 World Cup.
‘I’m going to stop at the end of the season. When your body tells you stop, you have to listen to it and be honest,’ Van der Merwe said.
