The Western Force defeated the Brumbies 31-21 in their first pre-season fixture at the McGillivray Oval on Friday.
The early season hit-out saw the return to action of Wallabies flank David Pocock and although he managed to grab a try for the visitors, the Brumbies were second best on the day.
Pocock, who captained the Force during his six seasons in Perth, was making his return after a long-term absence from a career-threatening knee injury.
The Force ran in three first-half tries, before two further efforts after the break from Wilhelm Steenkamp and new signing Mitch Scott sealed the victory.
The Brumbies will get their Super Rugby campaign underway with a home match against the Reds on 13 February, while the Force face a trip to the defending champions Waratahs two days later.
