Western Province Rugby Union president Thelo Wakefield says he would support the full-time appointment of Robbie Fleck as Stormers head coach.
Fleck was appointed as the interim coach for this Super Rugby season after the departure of Eddie Jones, but with the Stormers having made an impressive start to their 2016 campaign, Wakefield has moved quickly to suggest the appointment should become a permanent one.
‘I would not hesitate for five seconds to appoint Robbie full-time,’ Wakefield told Die Burger. ‘I won't hear the word “interim” again when it comes to him. Robbie has opened the eyes of Western Province and proven that it is the right thing to develop your coaches internally.’
It is expected that Fleck’s contract will be reviewed after the Super Rugby season, but it's clear that he's already won early support.
