Newcastle beat Harlequins 26-19 at Kingston Park, while there were also English Premiership wins for Northampton, Sale, Leicester, Saracens and Exeter.
The Falcons took an early 7-0 lead after flyhalf Craig Willis converted hooker Scott Lawson’s try in the 10th minute, with Willis slotting a penalty soon after. Quins hit back just before the break when flyhalf Nick Evans converted wing Charlie Walker’s 38th-minute try to reduce the Falcons' lead to just three points at half-time.
Quins scored two early second-half tries to take a 19-10 lead, before replacement flyhalf Andy Goode turned things back in favour of the Falcons.
Goode slotted two quick penalties shortly after coming off the bench to reduce Quins’ lead to just three points with 20 minutes to play. He then kicked a third to tie the scores before converting prop Rob Vickers late second-half try to give Newcastle the win.
Elsewhere on Sunday, the Exeter Chiefs beat the Worcester Warriors 30-15 at Sixways Stadium to secure second place on the Premiership log after 10 rounds.
The Chiefs scored two tries either side of half-time for a much needed four-try bonus point. Warriors flyhalf Tom Heathcote kept his side in the game, kicking five penalties, but tries from Chiefs No 8 Thomas Waldrom and flanker Don Armand put the match out of reach for the hosts.
On Friday night, Wasps thumped the Northampton Saints 24-11 at Franklin’s Gardens. The visitors raced into a 24-3 lead at half-time scoring three tries to nil. The Saints only first-half points came from the boot of flyhalf Stephen Myler.
Myler slotted another penalty early in the second half and Saints No 8 Sam Dickinson scored late in the game, but it was not enough as Wasps held on for the win.
On Saturday, the Sale Sharks recorded a 38-10 victory over struggling London Irish at the AJ Bell Stadium. The Sharks scored two tries to lead 12-10 at the break and ran in four more in the second half.
The Leicester Tigers claimed a dramatic 19-18 victory over Gloucester to silence the Kingsholm crowd. The Tigers outscored the hosts three tries to two as they ended Gloucester’s unbeaten winning streak at home that began last November.
Replacement prop Logovi'i Mulipola’s late second-half try was converted by fullback Tommy Bell as Leicester claimed their eighth win of the season.
Saracens fought back from 13-0 down at half-time to beat Bath 19-13 in London. Flyhalf Charlie Hodgson contributed 14 points through the boot, while hooker Schalk Brits scored Sarries' only try.
